Belize Location

Located in Central America along the Caribbean Sea, Belize is approximately 180 miles long and 68 miles wide. This small significant country contains six districts: Toledo, Stann Creek, Cayo, Belize City, Orange Walk, Corozal and Belmopan City which is the capital.

Belize hosts a variety of cultures including: Maya, Mestizo, Garifuna, East Indian and Creole. English is the first language in Belize, making it a popular place to travel.

Attraction in Belize

One of Belize’s greatest attraction is the Barrier Reef which is the second largest coral reef on earth. Belize Barrier Reef is 185 miles long containing the world’s largest blue hole known as The Great Blue Hole. This great attraction draws more than 130,000 visitors per year!

In addition to the reef, Belize boasts over 450 small island called “Cayes”. Two of the largest cayes, Caye Caulker, Ambergris Caye followed by Placencia have been major attractions for Belize, Central America. These cayes are home of the best beaches, activities and accommodations. 

Belize has the only Jaguar Reserve on the planet! About six different species of cats, including jaguars and pumas, are indigenous to Belize and Central America. Located in Southern Belize, “The Cockscomb Wildlife Sanctuary and Jaguar Reserve” is the home of these magnificent animals.

Along with these spectacular attractions lies the great accomplishments of Mayan sites known and Mayan Ruins. Belize has approximately 900 Mayan ruins, yet only a handful of them is uncovered. Nevertheless, these sites have drawn attraction to thousands. Some of the popular ruins are: Lamanai, Altun Ha, Cahal Pech, Xunantunich, Caracol and Lubaantun. All these Mayan ruins contain artifacts, stories and so much history to discover. 


About 2/3 of Belize’s forest is still intact. Among the forest sits the most extravagant waterfalls. The most famous waterfalls in Belize are: Rio on Pools, Big Rocks Falls, 1000 Foot Falls, Tiger fern falls and Rio Blanco Falls. Many of these waterfalls flow into pristine pools and rivers in the depth of nature. Added to these falls are caves! Belize has 10 popular majestic caves tucked away in its lush forest known as: Black Hole Cave, Rio Frio Cave, Barton Creek Cave, Chem Chem Ha Cave, Actun Tunichil Muknal, Caves Branch, Laguna Cave, St. Hermans Cave, Tiger Cave and Hokeb Ha Cave. Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit these caves every year to discover and learn Mayan history.

Food in Belize

Farming is an essential in Belize! Many Belizeans grow their crops either for home use or for sale at the local farmers market. Apart from small vegetable gardens, Belize is known for cultivating and exporting extensive amounts of: rice, corn, sugar, beans, banana, cacao or chocolate, coffee and a few other fruits.
